one year later

today is the 1 year anniversary of me starting my current job. the year has flown by, with good times and bad. i can't believe i've been here for a year already. time really flies when you spend all day talking to assholes.

i'm kicking off year 2, day 1 in style---at a job interview with a different company.

fuck yeah, give it to the man!

interviews suck most of the time, just give a good answer and don't be retarded. seriously, most people are just nervous and retarded on interviews. the one thingi have to say is don't be retarded. thats it. a company worth working for doesn't care about the answers you give as much has the fact that you're not retarded.

good advice. not being retarded is always key. for me, i feel good about things once i get to the interview stage. getting the interview is the hard part, then i control my own destiny.

so, i actually got the job. i interviewed on thursday, they made me an offer on friday, and i took the weekend to think it over. i rejected the initial offer because when the commute (time and cost) was factored in, it wasnt worth it. i also decided that the best move in the long run would likely be to stay where i am, at least for a little while longer. when i rejected it, they thought i was playing hardball and came back with a counteroffer that was harder to turn down. ultimately, i stayed where i was. only time will tell if that was smart. so far i feel good about it though.
