that was awesome

so i'm sitting in professional responsibility right now, and i had just about had my fill, and for once, it had nothing to do with the class. not one, but two cell phones have already gone off, playing whatever tacky ringtones people had downloaded. one phone goes off, ok, you forgot to turn it off/to silent. that's ok now and then. but after one phone goes off, and everyone hears it, dont you think it might be wise to check your own? maybe it's just me.

but now, the awesome part. i'm just sitting here, reading blogs, when i hear my professor sharply ask "what's so funny??" he's staring at some girl in the second row. she says, "me?" all innocently as if she doesnt know what's going on. i can clearly see that she's on the internet (as everyone with a computer is), and was laughing at whatever was on the screen. so she denied it, and my professor looks her in the eye and just says "you're lying to me. i flat out don't believe you." he was right, of course, and it was hilarious. almost made it worth coming to this class today. almost.

You're on the internet reading blogs while in P.R. class? That's so unprofessional of you, dicta. I hope you don't continue such unprofessional conduct once you get out of law school and get into the actual practice of law. Jeez.

Oops, gotta go, here comes my boss.

In one of my upper level marine biology classes (aquaculture, to be exact... and no, don't ask) a girl's cell phone kept ringing. Since it was upper level, there were probably 10 people in the class. The room was large enough that we were sort of spread out, so the sound of a cell phone could be easily pinpointed to one backpack. The first time the phone beeped repetetively -as phones do- everyone looked around and no one did anything. The next time a few minutes later, the girl belonging to the phone looks all suprised and pulls it out of her bag, claiming that she'd "never heard that ring before" that's why she didn't know it was her phone. (everyone else knew it was her phone). The NEXT time the girl was all laughs when she said that she still didn't recognize the caller ID - are you kidding? turn it off! the professor was just annoyed, but didn't really know how to react, since we all assumed that she had already turned off the phone. then class ended, and she was still a bitch.

Best thing to do if your cell phone rings in class: what an expert witness did in court a few weeks ago. He was sitting in the first row behind counsel's table, and his cell phone rang. Everyone turned around to look in his direction, including the judge. He slyly slipped a hand into his pants pocket and turned the phone off, all the while staring at the guy sitting to his right with an "I can't believe your cell phone is ringing in court" look on his face. The look was so great that everyone thought that guy was the one w/ the ringing cell phone, even the guy himself, who patted down all his pockets for about 15 seconds, even though he had not brought his cell phone with him that day. It was classic!

haha...that's as bad as the guy who ANSWERED his cell phone during the movie "White Noise" and proceeded to talk in a loud redneck fashion until everyone starting shouting "shut the fuck up!"

i had a guy answer his cell phone durring class in a large lecture hall. it was ridiculous he answered and talked to the person long enough to explain that he was in class and when it would be over and what he wanted for dinner. the whole time everyone was staring at him and the guy next to me was getting ready to throw something.
